PDF to WordBeta

PDF to Word turns the text of a PDF into an editable .docx document. It rebuilds paragraphs, detects headings from larger text and keeps bold formatting where the PDF exposes it, with a page break between pages.

Limitations to know

  • This is a text-focused conversion: complex layouts, columns, images, charts and exact fonts are not reproduced.
  • Scanned PDFs contain pictures of text, not text – they produce empty output because OCR is not yet supported.
  • Tables are converted to text lines; for tabular data use PDF Tables to Excel instead.

Privacy: PDF to Word runs entirely in your web browser. Your PDF data is not uploaded, stored or shared, and nothing about its contents is sent to analytics.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert PDF to Word without losing formatting?

Not perfectly with any tool, because PDFs store positioned text rather than paragraphs. This converter keeps paragraphs, headings and bold text, but complex layouts, images and multi-column pages will need tidying in Word.

Why is my Word file empty?

Your PDF is probably a scan (an image of text). Without OCR there is no text to extract. OCR support is on our roadmap.

Is it safe for confidential documents?

Yes – the conversion runs entirely in your browser and your file is never uploaded.
